It ́s been ten years since the last live album from Marja Mattlar was released. The album titled ”Belgiassa” consisted of material from the ”Pariisi –Vuorenkylä” and ”Lumi” –albums recorded live on her tours of Belgium.

Now we ́re in Vuorenkylä, Finland, in the artists home and feeling ́s very intimate. As Marja herself puts it: ”Last ten years my musical partner has been kantele player Eveliina Kontio and there has been a lot of talk about recording our performances and even some listeners have hoped for it. On the 14th of july 2007 we finally arranged two concerts at my home in Vuorenkylä. They both were recorded and now one of them is to be released as a live-album”.

The recordings were made by Ilmari Issakainen and Tyko Saarikko of the group Tenhi. They were already responsible for producing, arranging and recording Marja ́s last very well received ”Polku” –album. Ilmari also mastered this new one and Tyko ́s the one to thank for the breathtakingly beautiful cover-art of “Vuorenkylässä”.

The songs on “Vuorenkylässä” are mostly from the albums ”Vesi” and ”Tuli” and they lead the listener to the situation they were performed in, to the intimate presence of the music. The sound is pure and only the essential is left. It gives you the change to let go, listen, rest in a moment and enjoy the atmosphere of an old countryhouse.
